Falkirk is one of the places that are called to be a meeting point with its great location in the central Scotland between two major cities Glasgow and Edinburgh and is the ideal place to connect business and culture, combining rich history and modern views.
This is an impression I got when I first visited the town to feel the local vibe. It is the hub to create new successful ventures. As a mural artist I see the importance of creating an appropriate environment that is conducive to the success.
Straight away in my head, I connected all the main features of the town`s surroundings: the diverse directions and biggest attractions on the Clyde canal such as the Falkirk Wheel on East and the Kelpies on the West. Both have achieved widespread acclaim for artistic and innovating engineering aspects.
All above, along with mounting landscapes on the background, created a beautiful web surrounding the town with the core – in the historical center.
Painting old architecture was an additional delight, creating a special atmosphere in an illustrative graphic style. It was felt as I was a part of the construction site centuries ago. What an honor to depict the Hub itself which is an architectural pearl: the building used to be an old Post Office built in 1894. Another great landmark in the central composition is the Steeple. The time on the clock tower is 18:14 – the year it was built and is a symbolic tribute to the history.
My special note to successful business partnership is a small but important image in the middle of the composition. There are two people I placed on the bench; they are business partners who quietly enjoy the scenery after discussing a multimillion worth project. :)
The art of the great collaboration – is what I personally experienced while realizing this project.
As a Ukrainian artist recently settled in Scotland and just started-up my artistic journey here, I was blessed to have had my first clients – business partners Nick Watson & Alex Sham, the owners of The Hub, as well Isle of Skye Paint Company, who supplied me with the high quality & eco-friendly locally manufactured paint.
My special thanks to my 8 years old son Nikolai, who was a part of the story from the beginning till its last touch up - my biggest fan and great helper. His little hands are literally on the mural by painting large scales project with me.
Our great collaboration based on trust and excitement from all parties beautifully unfolded in the outstanding colorful mural inside the meeting room area in the Hub.
